The Energy Behind Creation

Today's episode is called The Energy Behind Creation.

It's the third in our series on The Law of Creation. And The Law of Creation basically states that we are born to be creators, that we are like our Heavenly Father and He creates, and we can co-create with Him.

We are constantly creating, whether we realize it or not. We create with our thoughts, we create with our feelings, we create with our actions, and we create with our words. And so we can be intentional about that and create a life we want.

We can use creation, the power of creation, to overcome and solve our problems and create those relationships and those experiences that we're really hoping for. One of the big challenges we have, though, is fear gets in our way.

I think we are all afraid sometimes. And that doesn't mean there's something wrong with this. It just means it's part of life.

So that's what I want to address today as we talk. And I'd like to get started by talking about the parable of the talents. Everyone is familiar with the parable of the talents.

When the Lord came back and he asked for an accounting of what the people had done, the servants had done with their talents, the guy who buried his talent said this. This is from Matthew 5 verse 25.

He said, And I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth. He was so afraid that he did nothing. In the doing nothing, you're not creating.

In the doing nothing, he was reprimanded and he lost the talent that he had. And the same thing happens to us. Our fear keeps us from getting our dreams.

Our fear keeps us from speaking up. Our fear keeps us from doing those things that matter most. And we see the same thing in Helaman chapter 5 verse 34.

It says, And it came to pass that the Lamanites could not flee because of the cloud of darkness, which did overshadow them. Yea, and also, they were immovable because of the fear which did come upon them. Can you relate?

Have you ever been so afraid that you can't move or you can't make a choice or you can't move forward?

I think we've all had those experiences, and I think there's sometimes we add some guilt and shame to that and think there must be something wrong with us, and we should just be able to figure it out or we should just have more faith, right?

How many times have you heard that if you just had more faith? Well, the reality is a little bit more tricky than that.

The truth is that if we didn't have fear in the first place, there would be no reason for faith, and that fear is actually a catalyst.

It's an opportunity for us to choose faith because if we were never afraid, if we were never in fear, we'd never have a reason to have faith.

So fear can be a real blessing in our lives, and as we start to change the narrative in our heads about what we're believing, that can really make a big difference for us, and we can utilize the scriptures and anchor ourselves in scripture, and

that can help us to have the strength we need to move forward and to make the progress that we need. And one of my favorite ways to do this is to obtain a promise and pray the promises.

I have a whole series of podcasts on God keeping his promises and how to do that. But very briefly, we find what it is that we need to change in our life or the things that we're hoping for and that we want in our life.

Then the scriptures and we find promises around those things and just the Bible alone has more than 3,000 promises to the Lord has given to us. He wants to bless us. He wants us to help us to overcome.

He wants us to feel joy and happiness in our lives. And he's given us so many promises to do that. In fact, currently, I am praying a promise and I'm waiting for that promise that there will be a complete healing inside of me.

I found a beautiful verse that helped me with that, that I can pray the promise. And it's this in Deuteronomy, Chapter 7, verses 12 and 15.

It says, The Lord thy God shall keep unto thee covenant and mercy, which he has sworn unto thy fathers, and he will love thee and bless thee and multiply thee. And thou shalt be blessed above all people.

And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness. Isn't that a beautiful promise?

So the way we pray is when we're praying, we actually pray the verse of the scripture and say, Heavenly Father, it says right here in the scripture that you're going to take away all sickness, that you're going to multiply me and that you're

going to bless me and keep covenants with me. And I am so grateful for that. And I can't wait for that to happen. And that could be the prayer.

As we pray the promises, that creates this faith inside of us.

Another way to create faith inside of us is to remember, to remember the past blessings, to remember the past miracles, to remember all of the times that the Lord has been there for us. One of the main principles of the Book of Mormon is remember.

It's actually book ended. It's in Chapter 1, verse, first Nephi, Chapter 1, and it's also in Moroni, Chapter 10, where we are invited to remember the tender mercies of the Lord.

As we do so, it brings peace and relief to our heart because it helps us to create the faith necessary to keep going when it feels like the problems are impossible or it feels like we're not getting the help that we need.

Because God always keeps his promises and the tender mercies of the Lord are sure.

The other thing that's really, really helpful in holding to the promises and holding to our faith and keeping going when we feel overcome and overwhelmed by the fear and the worry and the challenge that we're facing is the words that we use.

In fact, I like to look at the scriptures again, as we're looking at the story of the creation in Moses, chapter 2. In verses 5 and 6, it says something really interesting. It says that...

Oh, I lost it. It talks about how God spake, and that's what created what it was that they were looking for. That was it.

He just spake, and it happened. In chapter 2, verse 5 and 6, it says... I'm almost there.

And this I did by the power of my... And this I did by the word of my power. And then again in verse 6, and it was so even as I spake.

He's talking about creating light and dark and all of these things. And if we cross reference out over to Jacob chapter 4, we see the same thing in verse 9.

It says, For behold, by the power of his word, man came upon the face of the earth, which earth was created by the power of his word.

Wherefore, if God being able to speak in the world was, and to speak in man was created, oh, then why not able to command the earth or the workmanship of his hands upon the face of it, according to his will and pleasure? What words are you using?

Are you using words that create more faith, or are you using words that create more fear, that hold you in that stuckness, that create more limiting beliefs?

Our thoughts that over and over and over again create beliefs, and we cement those thoughts in when we speak them. And so be careful what you're speaking and speak truth, speak scripture. Again, anchoring yourself in scripture is so helpful.

One of my very favorite scriptures is in D&C 12317, where it says, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power, and let us stand still and see the salvation of the Lord and for his arm to be revealed. There's so much power in that.

When we hold to that through the hard times, when we hold to that through the challenges, then that can help us to hang in there and hang on until our problems are resolved, until we find the relief that we're looking for, because the Lord wants

us to have that. So I invite you into that today. Be considerate and be careful of what words you're speaking. Look at fear as an opportunity to choose faith, and choose faith by remembering and by praying the promises.

If you have loved this podcast, will you share it with somebody who might enjoy it and would need to hear it? Thank you so much for being here today. I hope you have an amazing day.
